When I come home, the first thing I want to see is something beautiful. I want to open the door and be transported to a relaxing place, the most tranquil get-a-way, perhaps Palm Springs. My life is busy, my toddler is non-stop, and this next decor endeavor is my New Year's Project to bring a little daily vacation every time I come home.
This is my original inspiration, The PoolHouse in Palm Springs, CA. The wallpaper, a little bit of color, accents of white. It all just goes with my mid-century inspired house.
Clutter, Big Wheels, shoes, and a big dining table with six chairs is not what I have mind for a peaceful entrance. But this is what happens when you have a big table, stuff gets put on it!

2 foyer tips if you live in an apartment:Add color without painting or wallpaper with painted furniture or a lampshade.Add extra storage with an apothecary chest and a curtain rod for scarves and hats. Shape and Color Tips:
Even the most colorful background seems tame by adding a simple white mirror. The green and white lamp shade brings out the color in the wallpaper, and since it's a small accessory it keeps the look fun not crazy. Lots of glossy white is perfect for adding lots of texture without feeling cluttered.
Well, wish me luck. I'll keep you posted on my progress...leave me your tips for a fresh, modern foyer a family can live with.
